Golf Fitness is one particular things, that I believe that, can often dramatically improve your golf game even more so when compared to golf instructional lessons. Here's exactly why.
I recently visited that amazing Dave DuPriest from his recently opened FitGolf Results Center in Wilmington, MA who can be a genius in uncovering inadequate (i. e.; non-performing) sectors of your body that are detrimental to the golf swing and also improve or stabilize these.
Dave has a full background in fitness which include a bachelor's degree with exercise physiology from Umass-Lowell. Bigger also had stints as a physical therapist and fitness professional before opening the sole FitGolf Performance Center within Massachusetts.
First, when you walk in you find right away that this can be a top-notch facility from your immediate welcome area for the entire space just has the opinion professional, clean and a good "we-mean-business and take world of golf fitness seriously" attitude.
After meeting Dave (who belongs to the most friendly guys you can meet) took me into a side room and commenced his Golf Performance Evaluation (which is one service they provide). He asked me a lot of questions about me, this game, issues I'm using, etc. This is around understanding your history along with goals.
Next, we went in to a complete Functional Movement Filter and Anatomical Assessment. These are a few very specific tests this help Dave assess power, stability, mobility, etc. in the body. For example, some with the tests included things enjoy shoulder rotation, spinal/pelvic turn, abductor strength, etc. All of these tests helps to paint further details of your golf swing motion and how this could be affecting your distance, consistency, etc. etc.
I loved this part of the evaluation because as much because you think you know your physique you probably really don't. One of these was a glute examination where I lied on my back and attempted to lift only my lower calf. I thought I made it happen fine and it experienced fine. But Dave later distributed to me that I has been activating other muscles in able to start. I said, "really! "
Quite simply things I thought were fairly strong (as I workout regularly) cant be found. So, I will state, almost without a doubtfulness, you will find sectors of your body you had no idea were poor. It's very fun to go through this.
After gathering this info we headed in the main training center of which, by the way, is super state-of-the-art and has now all this cool appliances including K-Vest 3-D mobility swing analysis, Cybex power rack, Potent weight balance system, Keiser multi-purpose teacher, X-iser mini-step apparatus, treadmill, hydro rower, and two hitting bays with web returns. Very cool.
Dave had me use the K-Vest which can provide 3D motion analysis. It's a form of strap-on harness that circles your upper body and hips (you also have a sensor attached to the golf glove) that gives computer generated, digital feedback on your swing in 3 measurements.
It's able to measure changes in the spine and pelvic posture, alignment at address, pelvis and chest muscles turn, pelvic movement, chest muscles movement, etc. It also looks pictures sequence of motion (kinematic sequence) I thought this was great because after swinging while using the vest on for assorted swings you can right away look (and analyze) in the data on the close-by good sized flat screen monitor.
What was interesting to me that Dave noted was that I have excellent spinal rotation at my functional test but had a limited amount when swinging. Of course one was sitting and also the other dynamic (swinging) so there was clearly a definite stability issue that is not allowing me to perfectly increase my X-factor (separation around shoulders and hips) therefor possibly limiting additional long distance. I had no concept!
Finally, we went relating to the the Dynamic Balance Strategy Mat which helps assess balance at set-up and how unwanted weight shifts in the golf swing sequence. You basically stand on the mat and swing gone. There are known patterns of successful golf swings which this process helps to measure against. It's really fascinating to find how your weight truly shifts (in detail) all over your swing.
Finally (we had been closing in on two. 5+ hours) Dave may need to take all this and interpret in which the most positive change are usually made. For me, it was quite a few stability and strength issues – particularly in the flutes and abs which supports provide additional stability that's currently limiting my performance.
Dave actually prints out there the K-Swing summaries and most of the *specific* golf exercises this individual suggests, based on your partner's in-depth analysis. Mine are kind of like tissue paper now following reading and handling them a lot!
Besides the service I mention above there are a selection of other services like B3 SuperCharged Golf Exercise routine, Masters Program, FitGolf Handicap Assessment and more that you may see on the internet site below. The prices are very reasonable and in my view, worth EVERY penny.
Bottomline, I found this experience to be totally worthwhile in each and every aspect, and recommend it to any serious player. And my bet is it will uncover many items you didn't even know that exist that could be limiting you from a total golf potential. Try it. Your golf game will thank you.
