West Brom keeping tabs on Wilfried Bony - expressandstar.com

West Brom are keeping tabs on Ivory Coast international hot-shot Wilfried Bony as they continue to weigh up their options for potential summer signings.

The Baggies are monitoring the 24-year-old, who is the leading scorer in Holland this season with 30 in just 27 games for Vitesse Arnhem.

And Albion will decide in the summer whether to step up their interest in the former Sparta Prague hitman once they have resolved the futures of several of their existing frontmen.

Bony is highly-rated following his exploits in the Netherlands and is being tracked by a host of clubs across Europe.

The Baggies acknowledge that a summer auction for his services could take the 6ft targetman out of their price range.

But they have added him to their list of potential targets as they look at the possibility of an enforced summer overhaul of their attacking options.

Bony moved from Ivory Coast to the Czech capital in 2007 and secured a move to Vitesse after hitting 10 goals in 14 games in the first half of the 2010-11 season.

He netted 12 goals last season but has hit top form in the current campaign with a scoring rate of higher than a goal per game to catch the eye of big clubs across the continent.

Sides in Italy and Russia are believed to have shown an interest but the player is thought to favour a move to the Premier League, where Chelsea and Liverpool have previously been named as potential suitors.

Vitesse hope to land a fee of up to £10million, which would rule out West Brom with their policy of lower-cost signings.

But it is believed the asking price could come down in the summer as he will have just two years remaining on his contract.

West Brom are awaiting news from Chelsea on the prospect of another loan for Romelu Lukaku, who has scored 13 goals this season during his first year at The Hawthorns.
