Speaking Frankly: Overmars keen to keep Man City managerial target Frank de ... - Mirror.co.uk

The former Arsenal winger accepts his club will face a challenge if Manchester City step up their interest in recruiting the 42 year-old Dutch coach.

On Sunday De Boer admitted he was flattered at being linked with City, but Overmars believes he can fight off the interest from The Emirates.

Overmars said: "At this stage we are not worried about losing Frank. We will be in two years when they come knocking on his door."

Overmars does accept that the patience of De Boer is being tested by the board of Ajax, who have refused to hand him a new contract.

Overmars added: "We are more busy with giving new deals to Dennis Bergkamp and Wim Jonk before we are going to sit down with Frank de Boer about a new contract.

In December 2012 Spartak Moscow made an approach which he turned down and in June last year he turned down the opportunity to join Liverpool.
