Everton compared to. Fulham: Final report 1-0, Pienaar's first half target enough for the... - SB Nation

Everton rode Steven Pienaar's first half goal to a victory over Fulham. Fulham weren't served by striker Dimitar Berbatov leaving the match in the first half as a result of leg injury. A league match has never been still never won by fulham at Goodison Park after dropping 1-0 to Everton today. Steven Pienaar's first half target was all the Toffees required although they did spend a few possibilities in the next half to start a larger advantage. Everton went ahead in the 15th second behind some fantastically executed build-up that began on the correct side when Seamus Coleman dropped the ball off to Leon Osman and then made a rundown towards the near post and the end line. The ball was returned by osman to Coleman who took an instant look up, noticed Steven Pienaar alone in the middle, and found the South African with a cross that Pienaar aimed past Mark Schwarzer. Just before the half hour mark Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov was forced to hobble down after suffering some kind of calf harm. He was replaced by mladen Petric. Everton had several opportunities to increase their guide in the 2nd half but they often missed of their own accord or were rejected by Schwarzer, who was exceptional. It resulted in an even more nervy half than David Moyes would have preferred but Fulham never looked certain dangerous. In the long run Everton did enough and held on for the victory that keeps them three points behind Tottenham for sixth place. Follow @SBNationSoccer on Twitter
